Low-budget airline, EasyJet, will start operating flights from London Gatwick to Bodrum, Turkey, three times a week, from 23 April.
The news, follows the recent announcement that major airline Pegasus are to run new flights to from London to Bodrum via Istanbul, and is sure to offer a boost to the property market in Bodrum, located along the Aegean coastline, in southwest Turkey.
This popular yachting and tourist hub attracts an estimated 70 per cent of all tourists that visit Turkey each year. Consequently, the volume of people buying Bodrum property has increased by around 60 per cent since 2004, in turn driving property prices upwards, according to Omer Yetgin, the chairman of Bodrum Real Estate Counselors Foundation.
Julian Walker, of Turkey property agency, Sport Blue, commented: "This is yet more good news for the property market in Bodrum.
“The fact that the flights are to be run by low cost airline EasyJet is most beneficial to owners and potential buyers of Bodrum property. This is because it gives British holidaymakers access to short affordable flights, thus making private holiday rentals in Bodrum more appealing. This will increase occupancy on privately rented properties in Bodrum, in turn upping rental yields and making Bodrum property more appealing to pure investors and holiday home investors.”
