Brazil property news: Rio 2016 Olympics comes to Berlin
Country: Brazil
13 August 2009 Brazil's Olympic committee will take its plans to the Athletics World Championships in Berlin this weekend to promote Rio’s bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games, which if successful will be great news for Brazil property in Rio. UV-10 reports that the panel will present the case for holding the 2016 Games in Brazil at a stand set up in a leisure area outside the Berlin Olympic Stadium, where the tournament is taking place. Agberto Guimaraes, sports general manager for Rio 2016, said: "We will be keeping our eyes open and exchanging ideas for enhancing the Rio de Janeiro. "Our delegation includes representatives from the top three echelons of government, stressing the importance of this event for Rio 2016," added Carlos Arthur Nuzman, president of the committee. Brazil has already been awarded the rights to host the FIFA football World Cup in 2014, which has already attracted a host of international investors to the Brazilian property market. The football tournament is traditionally a big hit, and is the world's biggest single code sporting event in terms of audience – including billions of television viewers. FIFA have selected Natal, Fortaleza, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Cuaiba, Curitiba, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Sao Paulo, as the host destinations for the tournament.
