Brazilian World Cup cities named
Country: Brazil
5 June 2009 Sepp Blatter, the president of football's global governing body FIFA, has officially unveiled the venues for the 2014 World Cup. From the moment FIFA awarded Brazil the rights to host the World Cup in 2014, shrewd property investors from around the globe have been looking at the Brazil property market with great interest, with one eye firmly on cashing in on the sport’s popularity. The football tournament is traditionally a big hit, and is the world's biggest single code sporting event in terms of audience – including billions of television viewers. Blatter has selected Natal, Fortaleza, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Cuaiba, Curitiba, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Sao Paulo. Blatter commented: “It was a very difficult decision to choose just 12 venues from the initial list of 17. We want to make this World Cup a sporting success and this is the most important thing.” Belem, Campo Grande, Goiania, Rio Branco and Florianopolis were the cities that missed out on selection.
