Bulgaria property construction falls

18 June 2009 The new-build Bulgaria property market has seen the volume of residential units built in Q1 of this year fall by 42.8%, compared to Q4 2008, according to the country’s National Statistics Institute (NSI). NSI data shows that 3,897 new flats in 547 different buildings were constructed in Q1 of 2009, which was 12.9% lower than the corresponding period last year. The majority of those new homes are located in Varna and Bourgas, followed by Plovdiv and Sofia. The research also shows that the average size of each new built flat has been condensed in size from 78.3sqm down to 75.5sqm, probably to cut construction costs.
