Bulgarian property market continues to boom

Fresh data from imot.bg reveals that prices for property for sale in Sofia and property for sale in Varna now cost around €1,500sqm, following significant capital growth last year. The Global Property Guide says that Bulgaria’s property market rose by as much as 30.6% in 2007, yet property prices could be set to appreciate further this year, albeit at a slower rate of growth.
Rossen Dimov of Rockarch Estate told Homes Overseas on-line: “We expect average prices for property for sale in Bulgaria to appreciate by around ten per cent in 2008. However, properties located in some of the country’s major cities such as Sofia and Varna will continue to outpace the national average, with average prices expected to grow by approximately 15% in 2008. This is largely because an increasing number of Bulgarian nationals are moving into the major cities, in order to earn greater wages and experience a better quality of life.”
Looking forward, Dimov advises property investors to consider buying property in the country’s third city of Plovdiv, where average property prices currently range from €500 to €600sqm. He also suggests buying property for sale in Bourges, situated near the Greek boarder, where a major gas pipeline is being constructed. “We expect property prices in these two areas to boom over the next couple of years”, says Dimov.
