Cypriot tourism levels up 4%

16 June 2008 Strengthening tourism levels have buoyed demand for Cypriot property to both buy and rent, according to fresh figures. The latest official figures from the Cyprus Ministry for Tourism show that overall numbers of visitors to Cyprus increased from 219,263 in January to March 2007 to 228,962 in the same period in 2008, up 4.4% year-on-year. There were 110,736 arrivals from the UK in January to March 2008, up from 108,542 during the same time in 2007, an increase of 2%.
Martin Pearce, UK Sales Director for Aristo Developers comments “It is refreshing that in a climate where there is much talk of a global credit crunch and diminishing tourist figures that statistics actually show that the number of visitors to Cyprus are growing year on year. It is clear that more and more people are discovering the wonders of Cyprus’ ancient sites, cultural variety and stunning scenery.” Pearce also told Homesoverseas.co.uk that he expects the Cypriot property market to continue to perform strongly over the next year or so. He added: "Cyprus seems to be one of the more stable real estate markets in Europe and scores highly with its stable political and economic climate. I believe a strong infrastructure including expansion of both international airports, a new and efficient road network, approval for a new modern marina in Limassol and further championship designer golf courses provides the basis for stable investment with good capital growth in years to follow."
