Donald Trump sues builders
Country: Mexico
20 April 2009 Donald Trump has sued the developers of a Baja California, Mexico, residential project he franchised his name (brand) to, after purchasers named him in lawsuits that accused the constructors of taking their deposits without commencing construction work on the scheme. Trump is suing the developers, Jason Grosfeld and Adam Fisher, for £47m, because under the terms of the licence agreement, they were required to protect and defend him from the purchasers's claims. Trump said: "Defendants, as the developers of the project, were entrusted with ensuring that the project would be constructed and developed in accordance with the buyers' purchase contracts and in keeping with the high standards of luxury, quality, reliability and dependability associated, throughout the world, with the Trump name." The buyers of 69 condominiums in the Trump Ocean Resort Baja sued trump and the developers in March, after they lost up to £12.5m in deposits.
