German properties swept away

20 July 2009 Three people are feared dead after two homes in Germany fell into an open-cast mine. The two houses, located in Nachterstedt, a town in central Germany, plunged hundreds of feet into the mine, after torrential rain caused a landslide.
Both properties were situated close to the edge of the former open-cast coal mine, with one home being swept away in the landslide, while the other property was ripped in half. The three missing residents, two males, and a female, are all believed to be aged in their 50s. A further seven German homes, now just a few feet from the drop, narrowly escaped falling into the mine, which contained no water.
