11 May 2009 Greece has risen from seventh to fourth most searched for destination to buy a home abroad based on country page views, and property views, on homesoverseas.co.uk, over the past month. It appears that Greece’s popularity as a holidaying destination, has translated into greater demand to buy Greece property. Elsewhere, Spain has recaptured number one spot, replacing Portugal, which has fallen to second most popular property purchasing destination. Bulgaria is up five places to eighth, Thailand has risen from ninth to sixth, France has fallen three places to seventh, Cyprus is down two places to tenth, while Brazil has fallen out of the top 10 altogether – now ranked 15th. Appetite for homes abroad is rising, based on searches and enquiries for properties to buy on Homes Overseas online. The number of people logging on to www.homesoverseas.co.uk over the past month has risen by a staggering 27% over the past month, as talk of green shoots boosts demand and confidence levels, culminating in significantly higher enquiries for homes listed for sale on the site. Here are the top 10 most searched for destinations in which to buy a home overseas at the moment, last month’s position in brackets:
