Hilton to move into Cape Verde

The island of Sal has been chosen as the destination for the first ever 5-star Hilton Hotel resort in the Cape Verde archipelago.
The new development in the main town of Santa Maria will comprise 268 rooms and suites, three restaurants, swimming pool, deluxe spa and business centre with 14 conference rooms. Completion is earmarked for the tail end of 2010.
Adrian Lillywhite of Cape Verde Property Ltd said: “The go-ahead of this project is a real turning point for Cape Verde. We have seen tourism levels rise steadily over the last five years due to increased accessibility and the fact that it is a port of call for many cruise ships. But it is not only holidaymakers who are visiting the islands. Cape Verde is also diversifying its economic activity, building relationships with the EU and China for example and the new Hilton resort will meet the needs of this emerging business community.”
