How much?
14 May 2009 Some property developers are refusing to publicise property prices, suggesting that greater bartering skills will be required. For example: Despite the fact that residential units in Palm City, a Maltese and Kuwaiti-owned groundbreaking luxury development, located on the unspoiled coastline of Janzour, Libya, the first five-star scheme of its sort, have already been sold, the developer refuses to give prices. Designed to high standards, the self-contained residential community should appeal to expatriate families living in Libya. Palm City features 413 residential units with a multitude of supporting leisure and entertainment facilities including a private sandy beach served with two restaurants and a central piazza. So how much would a family have to stump up for a home? “Works at Palm City have maintained their positive momentum and we are in the process of hosting clients for on-site visits. The area surrounding the development in Janzour, which lies 15km away from the capital of Tripoli, has been totally transformed with roads, paving and landscaping,” Reuben Xuereb, managing director of MIH, said. Thank you, but how much for a property? “Structural works and internal finishings, including tiling, apertures and internal and external doors, have been completed in 95% of Palm City residences,” Xuereb added. That’s great, but how much for an apartment? It appears to be a secret! A spokesperson for the developer says: “The director is not keen to make the prices public through a widely-read website (homesoverseas.co.uk). The main reason is that the property is at the luxury end and they are following a policy where potential clients are met up with personally and shown around the property before moving on to price issues so that the price can be judged in a more realistic manner. In fact there are no prices on the corporate website either.” Umm…
