No sales at Dubai’s first ever property auction

29 May 2009 The first ever Dubai property auction ended without recording any sales, as none of the lots reached their reserve prices. Over 100 bidders attended the sale, organised by Madania Real Estate, a subsidiary of Al Tamimi Investments, which featured four lots. The first property to be offered was a villa in Palmera in Arabian Ranches, and the second home was a villa in Al Mahra in Arabian Ranches. Both units failed to reach their reserve prices. The third and fourth properties, a penthouse in Jumeirah Beach Residence and a villa in Al Mahra, failed to even attract an opening bid. “These properties will not be re-auctioned. However, interested parties can negotiate privately,” said Raymond Kuceli, CEO, Madania Real Estate. The auctioneer was criticised the auctioneer for overpricing the homes. Kuceli added: “We are going to sit down with the sellers and set a price next week.”
