Over 11m Brits eye jobs abroad

13 May 2009 Around 23% of all Britons are contemplating the idea of working abroad within the next couple of years, equating to over 11 million 16+ year-old UK inhabitants, according to currency specialist Foreign Currency Direct. The research also shows that a fifth of those people would look to relocate to and either buy or rent property in Australia. At a time when UK unemployment has topped the two million mark, with many projecting that tax increases will push Britain’s highest earners abroad, as part of its Money Moves campaign Foreign Currency Direct asked a GB representative sample of over 2,000 adults whether they were considering looking for a job abroad as a result of the recession, and which countries they believed offered the best opportunities and benefits for overseas employment.
