Prosperous year ahead for Languedoc-Roussillon, France

New figures from the Association of the Notaires de France reveals that the average price of an apartment in Languedoc-Roussillon rose by 18% last year, while average house prices rose by 15%.
Philippa Pignat of Chesterton International says that the strong capital growth comes as a consequence of the fact that a greater quantity of international companies has relocated their offices to the south of France. Furthermore, the introduction of a number of low-cost airlines to the Languedoc region, which is surrounded by five airports – Montpellier, Nimes, Beziers, Avignon and Marseille – is driving demand among international property buyers.
Pignat says: “Foreign property buyers are now buying properties inland, within an hour’s drive to the sea, rather than on the coast due to the charm of the villages, the beautiful landscape of rolling hills and vineyards and the affordable prices. Whilst Provence suffers from the mistral and the French Riviera bears the high number of tourists and construction sites, the Languedoc appears more tranquil and authentic.”
Chesterton International is currently marketing a development of 19 traditionally designed villas, called Le Hameau du Temple, located within close proximity to the historical town of Uzés, set within the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Prices for property for sale in Languedoc-Roussillon currently start from €560,000 (£416,400).
