‘Snow’ business like property in Slovakia

With Slovakia joining the Euro on January 1st 2009 the country’s property market has received a lot of international attention over the past few months.

Estate agent Letterstone claims that the country, boosted by the High Tatras Mountains, is now set to become of Europe’s leading ski destinations, which in turn should boost demand for property in Slovakia.

Edward Stevenson, investment manager at Letterstone Slovakia comments: “With the High Tatras mountains natural beauty and array of outdoor pursuits opportunities are attracting an increasing amount of tourists each year, Slovakia is fast becoming one of Europe’s hottest property markets.”

“Investors can take advantage of the increasing demand from tourists for rental properties in the region, whilst prospective second homeowners looking for a rural retreat would benefit from the high standard of properties and facilities now offered with properties in Slovakia. Furthermore, there are flights from London to Poprad now leaving almost every day of the week”

Anyone who does decide to buy property in Slovakia will be keen to learn that income tax is charged at a flat rate of 19%, while there is no stamp duty applicable.
