Tiger Woods course put on hold

11 June 2009 The first golf course to be designed by Tiger Woods in Dubai has been put on hold for at least six months due to the economic and Dubai property downturn. “It's six months as of right now,” Woods said in an interview at the Memorial. “It's going to be behind schedule. Obviously, the economy has turned over there and they've slowed down construction because of it. “The economy needs to turn around. If it gets stimulated, we can pick up to the point where we might open earlier, but who knows? It's out of my hands.” The Tiger Woods Dubai scheme, which is being built by Tatweer, will eventually feature 100 villas, 75 mansions, 22 palaces, a 360,000sqft boutique hotel, a 139,000sqft clubhouse and a golf academy. There are two other Tiger Woods Design resorts being built at the moment, one in North Carolina (The Cliffs at High Carolina) and the other in Mexico (Punta Brava).
