Some people looking at Veneto property may look no further than Venice, but there is more to the region than that famous city, which despite a dwindling population still has some of the most desirable and expensive property for sale in the entire country.
Just 30 kilometres from Venice, Padua is a lively and historic university town. Treviso and Vicenza are unspoilt, historic cities where Veneto property is a fraction of the price of Venice. Many potential buyers of property in Veneto will be taken with the distinctive ‘ville venete’ (Venetian villas), a style of property dating back up to 500 years that is prevalent throughout the region.
There is skiing in the north of the region. Belluno is nestled in the Dolomites and offers downhill and cross-country skiing in winter. The area is also home to the Bellunesi Dolomites National Park, the only protected National Park in the northeast of Italy. Traditional Veneto properties in the countryside are popular and cheaper than the city equivalent.
